2nd Twenty20 T20 India vs New Zealand Live Streaming

Mahendra Singh Dhoni wasn’t too displeased, though, with the XI India fielded in the first game. “With an extra seamer the batting order is not as long and as deep as you would prefer in a Twenty20 game,” Dhoni said. “I was quite happy with the kind of combination that we played.” It will be interesting if Dhoni goes in with one of the potent pair of Munaf Patel or Praveen Kumar.

And India don’t see the first loss as a big setback. “Setback? For the first game? It’s not a setback,” Yuvraj Singh said. “It’s the first game of the series. We’ve got five one-dayers, three Test matches, another Twenty20, it’s a long tour, so we’re all geared up for it.” Dhoni also said that, batting errors notwithstanding, his side learnt very quickly. “One thing for sure is we have learnt a lot from our mistakes. If we don’t commit these mistakes again we have a very good chance.”

Vettori, though, will want more of the same from Wednesday night: precise bowling, quick fielding and sensible batting. And Vettori himself will be the key bowler. Among bowlers who have played more than eight Twenty20 internationals, Vettori is behind only Umar Gul in terms of economy rate. And though the format is still young, those two have been the best bowlers in Twenty20 internationals. It is a testimony to his skill that he did well at the ridiculously small AMI Stadium.

2nd Twenty20 T20 Ind vs NZ Live Streaming

2nd Twenty20 T20 Ind vs NZ Live Streaming

The second leg of the New Zealand summer has got off to a fiery start and raised expectations all round effective Friday, when the two teams meet again. The Indian superstars, the world Twenty20 champions, will be under pressure to put up a performance worth that status. The New Zealand bowlers will be under pressure to give the home side a more ‘precise’ start, as Daniel Vettori put it.

In either case, there’s little time to relish a win or pick up the pieces after a loss. Even before the match presentations had ended last night, the groundsmen had started taking out the portable pitch - there’s a rugby game scheduled at the AMI Stadium on Friday. The day after a late game there wasn’t enough time for the teams to travel to the Westpac Stadium here and check the conditions. New Zealand practised at the Basin Reserve, Wellington’s Test ground, soon after landing, and India gave training a miss.

And all this for three hours’ cricket. Twenty20 games can be a bit like a Christchurch-Wellington flight - more time goes in reaching the airport, checking in, and waiting for the aircraft, than the actual 30-minute flight. For India it will be more of a mental check-in before they go in to try and save the series. The first question will be, do they play an extra specialist bowler? The ease with which Irfan Pathan was taken for runs on Wednesday could outweigh his value as a batsman.

994232England arrived in the Caribbean with a new captain, no coach, rumours about divisions within the squad, and no victories in any form of international cricket since September, and yet they somehow retained the vague belief that the trip would be a rest cure ahead of their busy summer schedule. Two matches (and ten superfluous deliveries) into the trip, and all such illusions have been shattered. West Indies’ sensational victory in the first Test in Jamaica was followed last week by a thrilling draw in Antigua that revived their momentum after the embarrassment of the aborted Test at North Sound. From Jerome Taylor and Fidel Edwards to Chris Gayle and Ramnaresh Sarwan, West Indies have mined a succession of big performances to leave them tantalisingly close to their first significant series win in six years.

As West Indies celebrated a great escape that felt like a victory at the ARG, England were left feeling broken and bereft. They had come so close to squaring the series, but now have no choice but to win back-to-back contests in Barbados and Trinidad if they are to emulate their 2003-04 achievement and triumph in the Caribbean. Moreover, they will have to start that process without the services of their inspirational allrounder, Andrew Flintoff, who compounded a hip injury while bowling 12 heroic but futile overs in the final innings at the ARG. Another absentee in Barbados is the wicketkeeper, Matt Prior, whose wife Emily has just given birth to their first son. The timing, though joyous for the Priors, is inopportune to say the least. Prior has been one of the batting successes of the tour, and with two sizeable absentees at Nos 6 and 7, England’s task has just become that much harder.

England (probable) 1 Andrew Strauss (capt), 2 Alastair Cook, 3 Owais Shah, 4 Kevin Pietersen, 5 Paul Collingwood, 6 Ravi Bopara, 7 Tim Ambrose (wk), 8 Stuart Broad, 9 James Anderson, 10 Graeme Swann, 11 Steve Harmison.
West Indies (probable) 1 Chris Gayle (capt), 2 Devon Smith, 3 Ramnaresh Sarwan, 4 Ryan Hinds, 5 Shivnarine Chanderpaul, 6 Brendan Nash, 7 Denesh Ramdin (wk), 8 Jerome Taylor, 9 Daren Powell, 10 Sulieman Benn, 11 Fidel Edwards.

988192Australia and South Africa will be given their first taste of the referral system at the Wanderers on Thursday and both captains said they hoped it would at least eliminate the most obvious umpiring errors. Each team has only two incorrect referrals per innings and Graeme Smith said he was resigned to the fact that the reviews could potentially be used up early.

“I’m sure guys are going to make mistakes,” Smith said. “It’s a new system, you’ve just got to trust the guys that are out there. Batters have generally got a good feel of what’s going on.

“More than anything else it’s more there to get the really bad decision out of the game. That’s never a bad thing. It will be interesting to see. I think both teams will probably make one or two mistakes but it’s more a nice option to have than anything else.”

The captains who have already been part of the trials have given the system mixed reviews. Ricky Ponting is still undecided on whether referrals are good for the game but like Smith he was hopeful that it could remove the poorest calls.

“The thing we’ve got to remember with it is there are still going to be incorrect decisions made,” Ponting said. “It’s not something that’s going to solve every incorrect decision that an umpire might make through the course of the game. But hopefully it will take out the really obvious bad decisions that are being made which are probably the most frustrating ones for players as well.”

One man who was on the wrong end of a series of bad calls during the Australian summer was Michael Hussey, who was given caught off his helmet at the MCG and caught off his pad at the Gabba. Ponting said Hussey had already expressed his interest in the system.

“Mike Hussey joked that he would question the decision every time he was given out,” Ponting said. “I had to remind him that he bats at No. 4 and the opportunities to refer anything would be used up by then. You have to trust that your players will do the right thing.”

The referral system was first trialled internationally on India’s tour of Sri Lanka in July-August last year and was also tried out in the two-Test series between New Zealand and West Indies in December. A modification was introduced for the current series between West Indies and England, with the number of referrals per team in each innings reduced from three to two.

The three officials in charge of the South Africa-Australia series are Steve Bucknor, Billy Bowden and Asad Rauf. Like the players, none of the umpires have been part of the previous trials.

Team news

Both teams decided not to name their XII on the eve of the game. New Zealand understandably couldn’t because they’re waiting on the fitness of two key players, Ross Taylor and Jacob Oram. Taylor, who suffered a hamstring injury during the Chappell-Hadlee Series, showed positive signs of a recovery at the nets and his captain Daniel Vettori was pleased with what he saw. He said a final decision will be taken tomorrow. Oram is set to make his long-awaited comeback, but only as a batsman.

New Zealand (probable) 1 Brendon McCullum (wk), 2 Martin Guptill, 3 Jesse Ryder, 4 Ross Taylor/Neil Broom, 5 Grant Elliott, 6 Jacob Oram, 7 Nathan McCullum, 8 Daniel Vettori, 9 Ian Butler, 10 Tim Southee, 11 Iain O’Brien.

India don’t have any such injury concerns but Mahendra Singh Dhoni preferred to keep the team a surprise. “I’m the sort of guy who doesn’t really believe in announcing the XII,” he said. “People say if you announce the XII you’ll have 12 guys who are really focussed, but I have no problem having 14 guys who are really focussed.”

India (probable) 1 Gautam Gambhir, 2 Virender Sehwag, 3 Suresh Raina, 4 Rohit Sharma, 5 Yuvraj Singh, 6 Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt and wk), 7 Ravindra Jadeja, 8 Yusuf Pathan, 9 Irfan Pathan, 10 Zaheer Khan, 11 Ishant Sharma
