2nd Test India vs New Zealand Live Streaming

India captain MS Dhoni has called for more of the same from his players as they eye a rare Test series win in New Zealand.

The Indians have not won a Test series on New Zealand soil since a 3-1 win in 1967-68 but a comprehensive 10-wicket win in the opening Test in Hamilton, which ended a day early, has set them on the right path.

It is 33 years since the Indians last won a Test match in New Zealand and for several players in the squad - Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman - it is the first time they have tasted glory in the country.

“It’s a great feeling especially for guys whose careers have spanned more than 10 years,” Dhoni said.

1st Test India vs New Zealand Day 1 Live Streaming

ind-vs-nz-1st-testA bouncy track with a sprinkling of grass awaits India in the first Test of the three-match Test series against New Zealand. The match starts on Wednesday, casting the die for a veritable war of attrition between bat and ball. One look at the wicket would convince anyone that the Kiwis, who had the Indians in a spot of bother on a lively Eden Park deck in the last ODI at Auckland, would use swing and seam to arrest the Indian batsmen who have been on a rampage on this tour.

Though curator Karl Jackson said he would eventually shear the pitch of its “excess” grass, there should be appreciable assistance for seamers, who could be lethal if the conditions are overcast. The conditions would demand great discipline from the Indian batsmen to collar a seam attack, spearheaded by Franklyn James, an ace at swinging the ball.Kyle Mills, who on his day can trouble established batsmen, Iain O’Brien and either Chris Martin or new-find Brent Arnel could form the seam quartet.

The wily Daniel Vettori (286 wickets in 89 Tests) could provide fizz and turn in case the quicks fail.
However, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Virender Sehwag have the skill and experience to quell the Kiwi attack, though they had had a deplorable tour in 2002-03, when India had mustered a series-high score of 219. Any extravagance could hurt the Kiwis as well, as they have an inexperienced batting line-up, which has yet-to-be-christened Martin Guptill.

If the Blackcaps had complained about being tormented by Sehwag, they will now have to deal with the batting might of Sachin Tendulkar (12,429 runs), Rahul Dravid (10509) and VVS Laxman (6446), who have a staggering gross aggregate of 29,384 Test runs among them. The celebrated trio apart, India could also bank on Gautam Gambhir, who has arguably been India’s best batting find in recent times, Yuvraj Singh and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni to put the runs on the board. Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan and Balaji too can be handy with the willow.

Given the wealth of experience and talent, self-belief and an enviable track record over the last 18 months, India begin the three-Test rubber as the favorites.Nevertheless, they would have to perform at their best to score a Test series victory in the antipodes, their first since the Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi-inspired 3-1 triumph in 1967-68.

5th ODI India vs New Zealand Live Streaming | Ind vs NZ

214592_33_previewWith the series already in their pocket, India may opt to rest some of their key players as they go into the fifth and final one-dayer.

India are all set to play against a demoralised New Zealand in Auckland on Saturday, hoping to finish it off on a winning note.India already have an invincible 3-0 lead. The Indians have already taken an invincible 3-0 lead in the five match series and will be keen to try out their reserve players for the inconsequential game at the Eden Park.

Sachin Tendulkar, who sat out of the last game because of an abdomen injury, is likely to be rested for the match so that he is fully fit for the Test series beginning March 18.

While things have gone favourably for the Indians, the Kiwis have only pride to play for as they desperately need to salvage a win to convince the home fans of their limited-overs potential, especially after recording six consecutive series wins at home.
However, India coach Gary Kirsten has already made it clear that he is no mood to take the game lightly and would like to carry forward the momentum of the ODI series to the three upcoming Tests.”It is important to maintain momentum and win games of cricket. That might require us to use our best combination. We also need to be mindful of the fact that it might be an opportunity to rest one or two players. We just have to weigh up what we want to do but we haven’t decided yet,” Kirsten said.

India are set to make some changes in their playing eleven and in all probability left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha and Irfan Pathan are likely to get a game before they return home alongwith Yusuf Pathan, Praveen Kumar and Rohit Sharma on Sunday.

While Irfan played in the Twenty20 series, which India lost 0-2, Ojha so far has had little to do on this tour, other than roll his arm over at the nets.
And this will come as an ideal opportunity for Ojha to win the selectors’ confidence. A poor show in the match would provide the leeway for Ravindra Jadeja, who has the making of a competitive all-rounder, to stake a claim for the second spinner’s slot in India’s ODI scheme of things.
The Indian team management is also likely to give Zaheer Khan, who did the bulk of the work in Ishant Sharma’s injury-forced absence during the ODIs, a break before the Test series and draft in Irfan in his place.

2nd ODI Ind vs NZ Live Streaming

393220Virender Sehwag set the tone with a typical fire-starting innings, and fine hands from Suresh Raina and Mahendra Singh Dhoni were also instrumental as India eased to a comfortable 53-run victory [by Duckworth-Lewis] in a match twice interrupted by rain.

India piled up a mammoth 273 for 4 from their 38 overs and then reduced New Zealand to 111 for 4 before further rain left them the near-impossible task of scoring 105 from 43 balls. Harbhajan Singh then picked up three wickets in four balls as the match fizzled out and apart from Martin Guptill’s accomplished 64, there was little for New Zealand to take from McLean Park.

After a small mid-innings wobble, Raina and Dhoni added 110 from just 12.2 overs to wrest the initiative. Daniel Vettori had brought about a lull in the proceedings after Ross Taylor’s stunning catch to send back Sehwag, but once 40 came from the three overs of the batting Powerplay, there was no holding the Indians back.

New Zealand had reason to rue some poor bowling, with Kyle Mills, returning from injury, especially culpable. Raina was in superb touch, and full tosses from Mills were ruthlessly dealt with, usually with cleaves of the bat that sent the ball soaring over midwicket for six. When the bowlers tried to curb him by bowling wide of the stumps, Raina improvised to squeeze-steer the ball backward of point for fours. With Dhoni rotating the strike cleverly at the other end, New Zealand had no answer.

It wasn’t as though Dhoni was only the supporting act though. He pulled powerfully on occasion, paddle-swept cleverly and also played one majestic wristy flick through midwicket off Ian Butler. With the regular bowlers powerless to stop the onslaught, Vettori turned to Grant Elliott. It worked, with Raina miscuing another big hit. But by then, the run-rate was hovering around seven an over, and it went beyond that as Yusuf Pathan (20 from just 10 balls) and Dhoni finished strongly.

Sehwag had started the day with a clutch off fours off the wayward Mills, but the players were back inside the dressing rooms within 20 minutes as the rain came down. By the time the game resumed, 24 overs in total had been lost, and India’s sense of urgency was apparent. Sachin Tendulkar pulled Iain O’Brien for four, and then guided Mills through the vacant slip position, while Sehwag cut a six over point.

Things were looking bleak for New Zealand before Ian Butler came on, playing his first ODI in more than four years. It was an inspired move, with Tendulkar getting the thinnest of edges through to Brendon McCullum. That didn’t stop Sehwag though. He pulled Jacob Oram for four to get to his half-century from 37 balls and then clipped one through midwicket for four more. Even Butler wasn’t spared, with a cut for four and a swat through square-leg as the 100 of the innings came up in just 14 overs.

Vettori brought himself on immediately afterwards, but there was little respite. Dhoni cut one powerfully for four and then lofted one to the sightscreen, before Taylor’s dramatic intervention gave New Zealand a sniff of a chance. When Yuvraj, bogged down by accurate bowling, followed soon after - a victim of his own hesitation between the wickets - India could have lost their way, but Dhoni and Raina hadn’t forgotten their compasses or their range of strokes.

New Zealand never got the stroke-filled start that they needed. Zaheer Khan commenced with a maiden over, but it was Praveen Kumar who struck the crucial blow early on, having McCullum caught off the top edge at deep fine-leg. Jesse Ryder thumped him down to long-off for a four, but another attempted heave only found Sehwag inside the circle.

Only 23 runs came from the first eight overs of the Powerplay, but Taylor and Guptill then broke free with some attractive strokes. Taylor cut Munaf Patel for four, while Guptill lofted the ball sweetly down to the long-on boundary. With singles and twos being taken cleverly, the Indians were briefly rattled.

Taylor greeted Yusuf with a cut for four behind point, but a miscued slog-sweep only found Sachin Tendulkar at short fine-leg. Guptill continued to work the ball around cleverly, but with the fours drying up, the game began to drift away. And the pressure eventually told when Raina’s throw from the deep found Elliott just short of his ground while going for a second run.

The rain then returned, and with 10 overs lopped off the innings, there was only time for New Zealand to go down swinging. Jacob Oram was caught behind off Yuvraj and Neil Broom stumped off Harbhajan. Guptill’s resistance then ended with a fine catch by Gautam Gambhir at deep midwicket. Vettori ensured that his team wouldn’t be bowled out, but that was little consolation on a day when New Zealand were second-best by a distance.

989582Six Indian players will appear in New Zealand’s State Championship to get some practice ahead of the three-Test series, Niranjan Shah, the team manager has confirmed. Their participation will be staggered over two rounds - Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Amit Mishra and L Balaji will play the matches between March 6 and 9 while Dhawal Kulkarni and M Vijay will join the competition for the next round, beginning March 13.

There was doubt over their participation because two of the state sides - Canterbury and Auckland - include ICL players and the BCCI’s stand on the banned league prevents its players from joining any side that has cricketers from the league. However the scheduling is such that the Indians will avoid playing alongside or even against ICL players. This is a lucky escape for the BCCI which could have been put in a spot for the second time this week after having withdrawn Sachin Tendulkar and Dinesh Karthik from a charity game that included ICL’s Hamish Marshall.

Auckland and Northern Districts have ICL players - Daryl Tuffey and Hamish Marshall - in their four-day squads but they already have the one permitted overseas player. Canterbury contracted its ICL players Shane Bond and Chris Harris only for the one-dayers and Twenty20s. The first round of games featuring the Indians has Auckland playing Northern Districts. In the next round, Kulkarni and Vijay will play the match between Central Districts and Wellington. They are yet to be assigned a team.

Heath Mills, the New Zealand Cricket Players’ Association (NZCPA) chief who had earlier said the players’ body would block any move to pull out ICL players from the state sides to facilitate the games, said he was happy with the outcome. “Each major association is allowed one overseas player under our contracting environment which is something we have always supported and encouraged.”

Justin Vaughan, New Zealand Cricket’s chief executive, said he was pleased that the associations and NZCPA had been able to work constructively with the board to meet India’s request of game time for the players.

“There have been a number of issues to work through, including the involvement of ICL players, NZC’s rules around overseas and qualifying players, player allocation, scheduling and travel arrangements,” Vaughan said.

“This is an excellent solution that means we’re able to offer the incoming Indian players appropriate preparation in first-class conditions - and at the same time give our domestic sides an incredible opportunity to play alongside some of the great names in international Test cricket. For some of our young players especially, the chance to spend four days on the park and in the dressing room with players of the calibre of VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid is priceless.”

Mahendra Singh Dhoni wasn’t too displeased, though, with the XI India fielded in the first game. “With an extra seamer the batting order is not as long and as deep as you would prefer in a Twenty20 game,” Dhoni said. “I was quite happy with the kind of combination that we played.” It will be interesting if Dhoni goes in with one of the potent pair of Munaf Patel or Praveen Kumar.

And India don’t see the first loss as a big setback. “Setback? For the first game? It’s not a setback,” Yuvraj Singh said. “It’s the first game of the series. We’ve got five one-dayers, three Test matches, another Twenty20, it’s a long tour, so we’re all geared up for it.” Dhoni also said that, batting errors notwithstanding, his side learnt very quickly. “One thing for sure is we have learnt a lot from our mistakes. If we don’t commit these mistakes again we have a very good chance.”

Vettori, though, will want more of the same from Wednesday night: precise bowling, quick fielding and sensible batting. And Vettori himself will be the key bowler. Among bowlers who have played more than eight Twenty20 internationals, Vettori is behind only Umar Gul in terms of economy rate. And though the format is still young, those two have been the best bowlers in Twenty20 internationals. It is a testimony to his skill that he did well at the ridiculously small AMI Stadium.

2nd Twenty20 T20 Ind vs NZ Live Streaming

2nd Twenty20 T20 Ind vs NZ Live Streaming

The second leg of the New Zealand summer has got off to a fiery start and raised expectations all round effective Friday, when the two teams meet again. The Indian superstars, the world Twenty20 champions, will be under pressure to put up a performance worth that status. The New Zealand bowlers will be under pressure to give the home side a more ‘precise’ start, as Daniel Vettori put it.

In either case, there’s little time to relish a win or pick up the pieces after a loss. Even before the match presentations had ended last night, the groundsmen had started taking out the portable pitch - there’s a rugby game scheduled at the AMI Stadium on Friday. The day after a late game there wasn’t enough time for the teams to travel to the Westpac Stadium here and check the conditions. New Zealand practised at the Basin Reserve, Wellington’s Test ground, soon after landing, and India gave training a miss.

And all this for three hours’ cricket. Twenty20 games can be a bit like a Christchurch-Wellington flight - more time goes in reaching the airport, checking in, and waiting for the aircraft, than the actual 30-minute flight. For India it will be more of a mental check-in before they go in to try and save the series. The first question will be, do they play an extra specialist bowler? The ease with which Irfan Pathan was taken for runs on Wednesday could outweigh his value as a batsman.

Team news

Both teams decided not to name their XII on the eve of the game. New Zealand understandably couldn’t because they’re waiting on the fitness of two key players, Ross Taylor and Jacob Oram. Taylor, who suffered a hamstring injury during the Chappell-Hadlee Series, showed positive signs of a recovery at the nets and his captain Daniel Vettori was pleased with what he saw. He said a final decision will be taken tomorrow. Oram is set to make his long-awaited comeback, but only as a batsman.

New Zealand (probable) 1 Brendon McCullum (wk), 2 Martin Guptill, 3 Jesse Ryder, 4 Ross Taylor/Neil Broom, 5 Grant Elliott, 6 Jacob Oram, 7 Nathan McCullum, 8 Daniel Vettori, 9 Ian Butler, 10 Tim Southee, 11 Iain O’Brien.

India don’t have any such injury concerns but Mahendra Singh Dhoni preferred to keep the team a surprise. “I’m the sort of guy who doesn’t really believe in announcing the XII,” he said. “People say if you announce the XII you’ll have 12 guys who are really focussed, but I have no problem having 14 guys who are really focussed.”

India (probable) 1 Gautam Gambhir, 2 Virender Sehwag, 3 Suresh Raina, 4 Rohit Sharma, 5 Yuvraj Singh, 6 Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt and wk), 7 Ravindra Jadeja, 8 Yusuf Pathan, 9 Irfan Pathan, 10 Zaheer Khan, 11 Ishant Sharma
