Coventry Blaze leapfrogged Nottingham Panthers to go second in the bmibaby Elite League with a 3-1 victory over their title rivals.
The hosts took the lead through Matt Myers in the eighth minute but Blaze responded with two goals in the second period from Sylvain Deschatelets and Erik Hjalmarsson.
Danny Stewart sealed the victory to leave the defending champions in second place, 10 points behind runaway leaders Sheffield Steelers with two games in hand.
The result means the Steelers extend their lead by a point following a 5-2 victory over Edinburgh Capitals, which saw them complete a weekend double over the Scots.
However, the Capitals at least found the back of the net, something they failed to do in the 4-0 defeat, thanks to a brace from Martin Cingel.
Steve Munn, Scott Basiuk, Robert Dowd and Jason Hewitt scored for the visitors.
Belfast Giants, who needed overtime to beat Basingstoke Bison at home last night, were a lot more emphatic on the road against the league’s bottom club, rampaging to a 7-1 drubbing.
The Giants are level on points with Blaze and also have two games in hand on the Steelers.
Hull Stingrays moved level on points with the Capitals in the chase for the play-offs with a 5-2 victory over Newcastle Vipers.
Elsewhere, Manchester Phoenix beat Cardiff Devils 2-0.
